  1. 10 months post-partum after a high risk pregnancy, no pp-af yet. No desire for teA of any kind. Don't even bring it near me. Why? How do you know if there is something more wrong? I know I'm not in the best place with emotions or stress but I can't explain it to dh to make him understand. I'm not sure I could put into words what I feel anyways. DH is patient but is wearing thin. I don't even want to think about having teA. Makes me cry. Any help?
  2. My 8yo DS says Legos, Transformers. DH says nerf gun or water gun. Also, art supplies. HTH
  3. Thank you all so much. There were a couple things listed I had forgotten to look into. I'm planning for 3rd and K. But having the list will help in the future too.
  4. I feel like I'm missing subjects in trying to plan for next year. I'm not looking for specific curric, just the subjects. Thanks.
  5. I wanted a JJB but couldn't afford it. Found this one and I love it. I got it at BRU for under $30. We cloth diaper and I have room for a couple diapers, wipes, change of clothes, and more. Love all the little pockets. And the side pockets hold my canteen. http://www.amazon.com/JJ-Cole-Prime-Diaper-Bag/dp/B004UC8SHG/ref=sr_1_16?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1340048580&sr=1-16&keywords=posy (I don't know how to type a link as "this one" and it links to the other site )
  6. Thank you so much for starting this thread. For different reasons of course, I've been feeling overwhelmed too. All the help is wonderful. Thank you all.
  7. We want to repaint our rooms. However, we have walls that are shared by more than one space. I'm not the best at describing things but here we go --- When you walk into our front door, you are in our dining room. On your left is a wall. Straight ahead is a long wall that goes down the hallway. Immediately on your right is the front of the house wall that is mostly windows. Then the 4th wall (to the right) is a long wall that connects into the kitchen. So the dining room (also our schoolroom) shares walls with the hall and the kitchen. Right now (and for the last 11 years), all the areas - dining/hall/kitchen- been painted the same color. I want to at least change the color but would really like to have more than one. At the same time, we're praying to only be in the house for a few more years. We want to move so bad. So my first question is - can we do walls in different colors or would it look bad? Then, what colors?!?! I wish I could just have someone come tell me.
  8. Hoping you see this..... Can you link to them? Would love to see them.
  9. I love my Canon. I think its the 230. Have a baby on me and can't check right now. Can't remembber what dh paid. He got a package with accessories.
  10. Are workbooks really helpful or necessary when teaching your child to read? R&S, Abeka, and plenty of others use workbooks in their phonics/reading curric. Can you do a good job without them? Or are there a lot of benefits to them? Can I really do a good job teaching with PP, Nora Gaydos and the library?
  11. radiobrain - doesn't testing have to be done by someone certified? A proctor? We can't give it ourselves, can we? I'm not in Cincy but am in Ohio.
  12. :001_smile: Glad to hear. lol! I knew you could "do your own thing" with AAS but I wasn't sure if I was missing instructions somewhere. And thanks for writing how you do it. That helps a lot.
  13. We are on step 7 in Level 1. I just need some clarification on how to do the following. I want to be sure I'm doing it "correctly". Word Cards ~When you review them, do you use tiles or have your child write them? ~When do you put them in the Mastered tab? Key Cards ~When do you put them in the Mastered tab? More Words (in the step) ~How do you use these? ~Do you have your child spell them with tiles or on paper? Spell On Paper (in the step) ~ Can you use a whiteboard instead or paper or is there a reason to do on paper and keep it? I think that's it for now. DS is *loving* it so far.
  14. We bought our boys "Once A Pawn A Time" to learn. They love it. It has books that teach each piece and its moves in story form.
  15. I'm not sure what I might need so I just exploring options. Ds8 is in CLE 206 right now. I don't know whether it's moving too slow, if he needs more mastery - staying on a new topic for a tad longer, or if it's just because he doesn't have facts cemented. I really don't know how to judge what is really going on but it's a fight to get math done. "it's not fun, mom! " I haven't decided to change curric but want to look anyways. If we were to switch to R&S, where would we start? Or if you have any other suggestions, ideas or advice on how to figure him out, I'm all ears. I don't want to switch if it won't help but how do I determine what he really needs?
  16. If you used All About Spelling to teach your child to read, please tell me how you did it. :bigear:
  17. DS8 in working in CLE Math middle of 200 level (just finished 205 - we're a little behind due to illnesses the last year) . He likes the different problems, LOVES the story problems. But hates the facts. I asked him the other night about math. He wants more fun and less facts. But in talking to him, we determined that if he knew his facts better, it would be easier and faster to complete the lesson. He understands *how* to add/subtract but just isn't fast in his answers (and isn't always right at first but usually catches himself) I'm torn on what to do. I like CLE. It's easy for me to teach. I know it's a solid problem. But the struggle to get him to do the lessons every day because of the facts makes me want to scream. He hates doing flash cards/speed drills/etc. If I did decide to switch, I wouldn't even know what to look at. Do I pause and do something else to cement his facts? But I don't want to get further behind. Do I supplement? If so, with what? I've looked at Math Mammoth but........ Any good games to add in? He likes playing on the computer. DH has suggested that maybe it's moving too slow. How would I speed it up? Sorry my thoughts are jumbled. We're dealing with bad colds, late nights, fussy baby. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
  18. Thanks all. As far as "all together", I wouldn't mind having to pull together some items for experiments but I don't want to be depending on library trips to get books to make it work. Expanding on topics would be different but not for the main thing. KWIM? Any more ideas?
  19. I am overwhelmed with science options. I don't even know what all is out there! I am looking for...... Use with K and 3rd boys Easy to do (have infant in arms too) Can be done 2 days week, planned for science for now Easy experiments, maybe even has a kit with all supplies Colorful text - that would be enough if we didn't get to experiments Covers more than just one topic All together for me. If I have to piece things together, it won't get done. Cost is a consideration but will look at anything. Thanks.
  20. What is out there for book lists or guides like Honey For A Child's Heart? I'm looking for just a list of good books to read to my kids. Broken down by ages is a plus. Standing at the library with all the choices is too overwhelming. A guide would greatly help me.
  21. A few weeks ago, I came across a blog that had an entry for MOH timeline. I don't know how old or new the entry was. What I do remember from it is it had a couple links in it for figures they used; I think her kids (a girl if I remember correctly) were younger; she had some pics - one was her timeline board - it was green and only filled a few lines up, it wasn't completed. She also had pics of the figures (I remember them being cute cartoonish characters) that her daughter had colored. I've gone back through my pc history and can't find it anywhere. It's driving me nuts!! Any help? Thanks!
  22. Can you start in 3rd grade with no prior grammar or should you start in 2nd? Also, looking at the sample books I see there are 6 units. Do you do them all at once (like all lessson 12s) or one after the other. Probably a silly question and I need more sleep. :001_smile:
