  1. I can't get it through the company, and there is no way they will give or let me purchase an access code for the site. So this is kind of my last option....asking here. Thanks.
  2. your homeschool planning along with your regular schedule? I want a serious palm pilot where I can have Word, Excel, and budgeting software along with a phone, email, web, music, camera and video. I want it all.
  3. That's funny....in the last 2 days we had 7 or 8 light bulbs go out. I haven't been out to buy more so dh took a shower in the dark this AM. Hee hee! We thought that was funny! I love him because he didn't say a thing about it. The last bulb went out just as he turned it on this AM.
  4. I love him because I just found out he has been talking care of the two biggest things in our life right now that could have really messed it up. I was ignoring them, and he was quietly dealing with it behind my back! Now it's solved and I can sleep. And, last night, he took one look at the kitchen and didn't say a word. Just smiled at the food I got him. :-)
  5. Ohh....that's good stuff. I'm not so patient a person and I really need to learn to see past the face. I'm really going to think on this, thank you.
  6. Thanks, Sue. I'll try that. Just more creative ways to give a narration!
  7. Thanks...Yes I have to remember that we are coming back to this. I have one in high school and he deals with so many problems of his own. I have a "get it done now" mentality with him and need to remember to slow down for dd.
  8. Why oh why can't she remember what we've read five minutes after we've read it? She does this with a lot of what we read. I've tried having her color or do something active while I read, read it herself, I read while she follows along, talking about it as we read, listening to the CD read it.....what am I doing wrong??? She'll listen to my question then give an off the wall answer--for example: Me: "What was the tribe in Italy called?" Her (after she rolls around on the floor, scrunches her face, grabs her feet to put them almost behind her head): "Athens?" Me: "Huh?" This has been the case for many months now and I have tried so many different things. We use SOTW and she is 7--very responsible, smart, perfectionist (will erase the 6 if it looks even close to a G). I think SOTW is a great way to do history, provides so many different ways of learning and thinking......I've got to be missing something here. I figure this is more of a frustration and teaching issue than a curriculum issue. *sigh* I'm going to go try and be a better mom now. :chillpill: I need Divine revelation. Happymainemom
  9. I would probably have my child stop doing the checking if I see that she understands and does the problem correctly. Then have her start again if I see that she is beginning to have problems or make careless mistakes. I also don't want to get in the habit of making sure that she really reads the directions to something (I'm really enforcing this now) then saying, "but, don't do that part." I just don't want that to spill over to any other areas down the road. So just curious when the new books eliminate that. Or do they at all until pre-algebra?
  10. I began thinking about the different things that my husband and I do in our home (or out of it) vs. my sister and her family and am really curious how other families share the roles. I sometimes feel that I over-extend myself, but I'm trying to look at the bigger picture to see my chunk. AND understand that I really only have a chunk, not the whole thing! I'm not going to list all I do, but just in general, who handles: (you, spouse, or share) making money paying bills budgeting mortgage/loans home repair/maintenance banking/investments taxes car care health insurance scheduling (making/keeping track of) phone calls or correspondence re: all the above teaching/school work or homework discipline (planning and implementing) spiritual guidance (who actually carries it out, not just the "head") kids mornings kids bedtimes transportation for kids grocery shopping laundry eating at home eating away (pack lunch, etc) daily chores/cleaning (really need sub-categories!) lawn care/snow cleanup garden or bed maintenance I can't think of anything else right now! Copy and paste this into a new thread and the answering should be easy -- except if you notice that you do almost ALL of these things! I claim no responsibility for what happens after that. Just make sure you're not PMSing! Happymainemom
  11. Just an add on to the other posts, there is one shower and "skin" scene. We fast forward/skip it and explain what happened.
  12. Delivered From Distraction is the best book I have read on ADD. I would highly recommend it.
  13. We have moved into studying ancient Greece, and my daughter is rather unsure about all the unclothed people! Can you give me an easy explaination that she can understand? I've heard different stories and reasons, but I'm having trouble bringing it to her level. TIA Lisa
  14. 1st - Mrs. Chamness 2nd - Mrs. Bates 3rd - Mr. Wilson 4th - Mr. Guy (my fav) 5th - Mr. Guy (still my fav) 6th - Mr. Bruland Whew.
  15. For a while we moved slightly away from it. Simply because my ADD son required a different approach. Now that he is in the public high school just for the mornings, my dd7 and I are able to really do a more classical approach. So I find I'm moving back to it. dd is really surprised at every link between our language and Greek or Latin. I love that she is really picking up the foundational things that I believe in establishing and I find myself being more and more convinced of the benefits of this method. I'm totally excited for the next few years! (Rah, rah.....imagine pom poms.) Lisa
  16. I still can't figure out what they are but I want some too!!! Pretty Please, Pretty Please???
  17. Prayer here! So sorry you have to go through these things. (((hugs)))
  18. You might not have had a loss, but did you gain? Don't get discouraged....today is another day!
  19. But, I'm not sure about this week. I'm followin all my points, but I've been feeling like I may gain. But, that's okay because I lost 3 last week and that's quite a bit. Started at 241.8 and now 149.4 with 8.4 pounds to go!!!!!:D
  20. Yup. Quite a few, I think. I'll search the boards and see if I can find her.
  21. Weight Watchers. It works. And exercise??? Blech. I never do it. But, I do count an activity point or two when I clean! Heehee!
  22. That would be awesome!! I can't wait to see you guys again. :-)
