  1. No, the house. It's one of the summer projects that I put off until school started. One of them... ugh. We did pick up 5 gal of pint after church and are painting. Nice to start finally.
  2. I'm working on the homeschool routine this week. I have a spreadsheet of the schedule. Should be a crazy week with all kids activities restarting. I have the week off work. The next week I'll be working again and that will be doubly crazy. And I need to read this new book, Mother Culture, that I think Jean recommended.
  3. I saw your original post and am disappointed you didn't use cilantro. But, the thing you should do now is go review the recipe. 😉
  4. Our entire married life, we have used a duvet cover empty for the summer and with a down comforter for the winter. The down comforter can be too hot and we were glad to get rid of it this spring. I decided to go with a comforter set instead of a duvet. The comforter is polyester and I'm finding it hotter than the down. I think I should return to the duvet but wonder if I should get something lighter weight than down? I have no idea what to look for.
  5. Last trip in May, stayed at the Windsor Suites which is centrally located. The Philly Phflash is the hop on/ off and only runs in the summer or weekends. Check the hrs. Taxis are comparable price to Uber.
  6. I read that article last night. I'd never heard of a microschool before.
  7. This tea is my favorite. They make the box separators into bookmarks so I have quite the collection and never run out of bookmarks. 😊 Is Jean gone?
  8. My dd so far has not colored on the walls but I had to scrub red pen (stolen!) off her legs (all over) yesterday and I'm not doing stamps or dot markers for another year. I don't even like regular markers. She only paints when in the high chair. Otherwise, she can use crayons and colored pencils.
  9. I got a dupray. I was disappointed that it didn't get the microwave to look new. I did like it to clean windows and upholstery. I didn't use in our showers. I've used it about 3 times but ran out of distilled water and forgot to buy more for about a year. I'll put water on my list.
  10. She is a sweetheart. I don't remember my others being quite this affectionate. Lots of hugs and kisses and she says things like "You're such a nice mama," which melts my heart. I just feel I don't have time for her with all the things for the big kids. They also will all play with and read to her so she does get a lot of attention just not the whole of my attention. Delivery boxes is a good idea.
  11. We never had one of those magnet mazes, but maybe you're right. I like that magnet scene set. Was actually looking for a similar idea felt board but not finding one with good reviews. Maybe I can go through boxes and look for our old one but I don't recall if I kept it. We have magna-tiles, that are similar to Picasso tiles. Also she will play with duplos for awhile.
  12. Having a jolly thunderstorm today. So much thunder, very exciting. And good rain that was needed.
  13. I ordered these Button toy Labels to match on construction paper Dress up bears but maybe should return and get something magnetic These are in my cart: Haba magnet maze Lacing Cards but I wonder if too small and would be frustrating. I saw a magnet board at a toy store I might go back and get. I just wonder how long these toys will hold her attention. She does like playdough and painting and coloring. Today she pulled up her rocking chair and sat for 10 min by me while I read to the boys, which was encouraging. Today, I had a flash of inspiration and set her up at the kitchen sink to play in bubbly water but the boys left school and joined in the fun. One found a disposable cup and punched a hole in the side to make her a waterfall. They flooded my counter. All in all, I think we'll get in the groove. And i had another idea. We have a train board that's been put away for about 4 yrs. So I was thinking, maybe I could get dh to get it out once a week for her to play with for a day. I can't leave it up all the time because we don't have space, and that would keep the novelty if he could get it out once a week. I was also thinking of buying a small play kitchen and doing the same thing, just getting it out one day a week. But can't find a reasonable kitchen right now. Thanks for all the ideas.
  14. Ds11 was very interested when I was adding poprocks to my husband's shopping list since it was on the experiment list. "Get a lot, Dad!" So I'm plodding ahead with Apologia for now. About to order the cd.
  15. No, I don't want to do anything online or video based.
  16. I've started with the Apologia since I have it. I thought I'd order the audio CD to give my voice break. Ds11 is complaining because he already read this book (though I think he only read the beginning) and says it's boring and the experiments are things like "drop a paperclip and piece of paper and see which falls faster." Just perusing youtube, it looks like this has some good experiments. Can any one comment who has used this? Called Sonlight and they said the lessons are 40 min, and that is just too long for 4 days per week. I would like to use Apologia since it's here and seems like it's thorough, but I also understand not wanting a dry textbook and very basic experiments.
  17. I need activities for my toddler while we get back into full time school. She'll be 3 in a few months. It's been 6 years since I had a toddler while school and then my oldest was in 3rd grade. Please give me ideas.
  18. I might used Apologia physics. I don't know what to do. I don't know why I end up down to the wire every year deciding.
  19. I have Apologia Exploring Creation with Chemistry and Physics. Wow, the lab kit is $155! And should I get notebooks books for $25 each. $200 is a lot. How long would this take per day? I don't see lesson plans. Elemental science looks good except the middle physics is too advanced and the grammar physics will be on the light side for ds11. But that's OK, I guess. I'm looking for easy and fun, and I like that it uses usborne encyclopedias. It can be 5 day or 2 days per week which sounds great. Anyone used this? Christian Kids Explore Physics looks like the perfect age range for both boys. Has anyone used it? Very affordable.
  20. We have The Way Things Work Now from the library right now.
  21. The Ein model is made in Japan but I can't find where to buy it. Manual would be great.
  22. Oh, I was sure someone in this thread mentioned it. @Servant4Christ ?? Ds11 just asked if we could do physics. I want to combine him with ds8. They'll be 9 and 12 in fall. The logic physics looks like too much writing and too advanced for ds8. Grammar physics is maybe too light for ds11. But light is better than heavy. I was looking at Sonlight, love all the books, but it's 40 min per day. Elemental science has a 5 day or 2 day per week schedule, which sounds ideal.
  23. @Slache have you used elemental science? Ooh, a late order science booya!
