  1. I started with this Harira recipe, but referenced others for spices, etc. This Khobz recipe. And I used the libbys pumpkin pie recipe with evap milk, except I change the spices.
  2. Aside from symptoms listed, diarrhea can be a side effect of hyperthyroidism. Also exhaustion because the heart is overworked. Unusually hot. Brain fog. Difficulty sleeping. Jumping out of skin feeling. Tremor was listed above but can cause things like poor handwriting and fine motor skill loss. Not sure about teen boy specific symptoms.
  3. I didn't paint or make pretzels. I made moraccan stew and moraccan bread (Harira and Khobz) for dinner and 2 pumpkin pies. I did do strength training for 20 min earlier, but i don't think it cancelled the bread i ate for dinner. I did help at church for 2 hrs. I mean, i was there for 2 hrs but some of that time was herding my kids into the playroom because they wanted to see the action. I think i helped. I bought a couple fall decor items. I folded a load of laundry. I'm tired and feel like i really accomplished nothing. Hey, I also got a bottle of dye to try on my duvet cover if I get brave.
  4. I bought getting started with french. No idea if it's good. Just want them to get a grasp on pronunciation and can have fun learning it on their own if they want. We do Spanish and Latin.
  5. Dd2 got up crying twice last night. Not sure why. I hope she's not getting sick. I'm too old for this. I'm tired. Dh is comes back today from camping with ds11. So I will have to make dinner. I am going to church for a couple hours to help with a remodeling project. I need to workout. I've taken about 4 days off, but I slept in today so need to make it fit somewhere. I want to paint my kitchen. I want to make pretzels. Too much to do and too little time. Hey! I did get all schoolwork graded and sorted into binders on Friday. That was a big deal. It's been piling up. Our weather is rainy and gray.
  6. Audiology is such a smart field. Was parked by a booming vehicle 2 days ago and explaining to the kids why audiology is a good choice and why blasting that bass is a bad choice. I bought a clearanced and not returnable super comfy high thread count cotton duvet cover. The color is not quite right . It's very pale green with swirls of white and very faint blue. The white isn't great with my ivory sheets. I'm thinking of dyeing it. I've never dyed fabric and have been wanting to try. I just want to cover the white, not make it super dark. Would love to keep the swirls, not turn it a solid color. The fabric is really amazing, so is a good buy even in this color.
  7. I will sometimes do the read aloud while they fold their laundry and towels.
  8. I do keep some things out of reach and rotate, also now have some toys only for school time, 1 day / week. I just have all the out of reach areas filled and would like to lock down and organize the accessible area.
  9. I don't think it's physical. He just doesn't want to do it. He'd rather build Legos. It takes too long, etc. I took a snap shot of one of the slides in that youtube videos about writing being a predictor of academic success. This will encourage him. He wants to be successful OK, I won't even consider WWS then at this point. I've really tried to keep him off screens, so haven't done typing yet.
  10. My house is small with poor storage. My long hall closet is our coat closet with one high rack of coats on the right side, and on the left, a low rack of coats with shelves above to the ceiling full of homeschool books and board games. My rolling bookshelf, with daily homeschool books, rolls under the tall coats. Also under the tall coats, I have stacked a covered bin of stuffed animals, an oblong laundry basket with wood blocks, and another laundry basket of little people and misc toys on top. Under the short coat rack, there is a fabric cube on the floor that holds baby puzzles, another felt bin with food toys. Oh, and there are a couple bins of other toys mixed with the board games on high shelves, like a plastic shoe box of Lincoln logs and a plastic box of toy food. I have a soft felt laundry hamper (open top) that I had used for storage (it used to hold the wood blocks) that I have now filled with duplos. I had to put it in my laundry room up high because I can't have it spill. I just didn't have anywhere to put the duplos since they were exceeding their laundry basket's capacity. I would love to stack and organize in a way that the toddler couldn't easily access /dump and make a huge mess and also just to be more efficient with better stacking containers instead of so many different types. Any suggestions?
  11. He does not type. All written by hand in cursive.
  12. I think it should be Llama Drama. Since you aren't the drama. I missed the original post but sorry for another hard time.
  13. Agree with above about huge change in approach from MP.
  14. Oh, I feel like my kids don't remember what it's like to have a stomach virus. It's been since before covid. Almost Friday!
  15. I think you're doing the curriculum bounce about, trying new things. I think it's normal to take some time finding what works. Don't get too stressed about it. It took me awhile to find what worked for us. Actually, when I reread your post, you say you bought little concrete curriculum, but you bought the ones you needed. History and science can just be living books for a year so don't sweat it. We are doing curriculum for both and it's making my life a bit easier to have the question listed to ask etc, but you'll be OK. I remember your kids are a bit younger than mine. I'm sure what you're doing is fine. Look at WWE for your younger kids. And buying the books is for your library, not consumable curriculum, so don't think of it as wasted money. And a year of loving good books is not a wasted year either.
  16. We are doing sonlight american history 1 for 6th and 3rd grade this year. Lots of lovely books but nicely mapped. I bought it on ebay. Really like new but $160 vs the $550 from SL. Writing With Ease is excellent with guided narration. And it's cheap, under $20.
  17. Yes, I use it for the test sentences. Also, sometimes their answers are not what I'd expect. For example, last week I had to choose a synonym for 'genuine'. My answer from the list was 'transparent' but book answer was 'actual'.
  18. Oh my goodness. Never heard of this but now twice in one day on the hive.
  19. My ds11 is saying he doesn't want to do Mr. Pudewa's videos. He doesn't like writing. I don't know that any program will help that. But should I try something different? Should I try Writing with Skill or is it more work? Ds is being a bit disagreeable on this so I'd like to make it easy for him. He does like Mr Pudewa and his jokes and I feel the video lessons are easier for me. I really cannot add to my load at this point as there is so much that it's nearly overwhelming. I want something structured with preset topics.
  20. Good morning! School is going well. Church today. We still really like this church. We've been attending here for about a year.
  21. Apologia is going well! The experiments have been fun. Not notebooking though.
