  1. I did GWG in 1st & 2nd grade with my oldest, then switched to R&S for 3rd. Now I'm thinking of going back! Ack! I just want to set a course, KWIM? :) R&S has too much writing so we've been doing it almost all orally. I was thinking GWG might be a nice combo, we'd go over the lesson together then he could do the worksheet independently. The parts I like about R&S - it has all the grades, it has review questions each day, and tests at the end of a unit. The part I don't like is only that ds has to hand write all the answers so we end up doing it all orally (he despises writing, but doesn't mind workbooks. I think they trick him into writing.). I wonder about him not doing written practice. Will it stick? I switched from GWG b/c ds was doing it all on his own and I thought I should know what's going on in his lessons a bit more (teach the teacher). Anyway, what do you think?
  2. I used an olive oil/castor oil combo last night and I was afraid I'd be really oily this morning. But, my skin is soft and not oily! It *did* take a bit of time last night, but I did it while watching TV. :) So, we'll see how it goes. I've been using MyChelle products which aren't exactly cheap. We've recently had a pay decrease so I'm excited to try something that may work and be cheaper. :) Thanks for your tips!
  3. Anyone use this? Do you have any information for me? :) I just heard about this and I'm intrigued! How often do you use the oil? What do you moisturize with? Umm, what else do I need to know?
  4. How do you teach book reporting?? I think my oldest could be doing something along these lines, but he would need very specific instructions. Any advice would be great. The only writing he does so far is WWE and narrations for history (which are only 3-4 sentences long).
  5. Jill - How often do you use the oil cleanse? What do you use on your face in between? Do you use a moisturizer every day? How do you clean your face on the nights you don't use the oil cleanse? I'm very interested in this!
  6. I'm definately thinking of brown rice. Maybe it wasn't exactly crunchy but much more firm?? I don't know! I added much more water than usual (1 cup rice to 4 cups water). I use a rice cooker, so I'm hoping it turns out o.k.! :)
  7. "No, you may not play with your brother. You need time away from each other!" That's one I never thought I'd need to say. :) Homeschooling changes some things!
  8. It's been a while since I've made brown rice and, to be honest, I never liked it! It was always a bit crunchy. So, if I soak it for an hour will that help? What is the ratio of water to brown rice? Anything else to make it softer???? Thanks!:)
  9. I was planning to do NOEO physics 1 next year and felt that would be enough for my 4th grader. But, I got NOEO biology 1 for a song used so I'd like to use that. I think my 4th grader should do a bit "more" than it requires, any ideas?
  10. Ya know, he will still be doing WWE which does include weekly copywork and dictation. I never even thought of that! That will be enough copywork. Whew! One less thing to worry about for next year. :)
  11. This is the way I am leaning. Thanks for your reply!
  12. I know you can preorder it on Amazon. I don't know about Peace Hill Press.
  13. I also use the week on a page with the Bible readings. I really like that even if I get off a week or two that I can just start again, I'm not overwhelmed with "where should I start?". It keeps my house clean but but lived in.
  14. I'm planning for next year and I'm unsure if I should continue copywork with my oldest. Thanks!
  15. Thanks so much! I'm not a photographer at all, so I didn't know where to start!
  16. My oldest son, soon to be 9, is very interested in taking pictures and reading. So, I thought I'd give him a how to book on taking pictures for his b-day. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks!

  18. Wow! These look really cool! I will get them if they have them out in time for the Anatomy book. Way better than what we did with a normal notebook.
  19. I know that Target will refund an item without a receipt. They will only refund so many a year, just to be sure you aren't stealing multiple items then trying to refund them, KWIM? Anyway, I think you should be fine to return them.
  20. My dh gave me a DVD of a fire in a fireplace. I love it! It crackles, pops, hisses, etc, just like a real fire. The wood even burns down. I can almost feel the heat coming off of it! It's too funny! I love sitting by the fire and reading. I just had to share!
  21. My Sister-in-law has asked me for advice with her dd. She is in first grade and is reading really well. However, she isn't loving it. She *can* read chapter books, but prefers picture books. Is there a good series for girls that would help hook her on reading? Or, would you suggest just letting her read picture books, continue to read chapter books out loud and just let it go? Or, assign chapter books for a certain amount of time/day? Whaddya think?
  22. I would like to have 2 of these credit cards - one for my clothing fund and one for my gift fund. I currently keep these in cash, but I purchase a lot of things online, then have to deposit the cash and I start getting confused. :) I was thinking the pre-paid credit card would be a way to keep those funds separate yet be able to use the credit card online. Clear as mud?
  23. Where do I find these? Can I put money on it online? Is it re-usable? Anything else I need to know? Hmmmm, where is the best deal? The one that doesn't have a monthly fee?
  24. I did a 3 mile Leslie Sansome DVD today. It was the first I've worked out in several months. My anti-depressant is working and I'm ready to get moving again! Yay!
