Math Curriculum Suggestions for 8/9 yr old non-mathie
alexia replied to tlcspcarcetc's topic in K-8 Curriculum Board
My ds 9 is non-mathy kid as well. We have tried singapore math, Math Mammoth. CLE math is the only one my son can handle with out complaining or needing much explanation. I am right there to help him out but, most of the time he does it independently. I do correct his work in smaller sections right away. If there are too many review problems that he already knows for sure I let him do half of the questions. -
:iagree:I decided not to use their Geography because of this. I just got their History ,Science and English. We love them at our house.

http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Acrobat/9.0/Standard/WS58a04a822e3e50102bd615109794195ff-7bde.w.html There should be "fit to page" function in the printer dialogue box. Click on that and it should fill up the page.

I'm not PP. But, I am searching for cursive program and interested in Spencerian as well. They have it at Rainbow Resource Center. Here's the link. http://rainbowresource.com/product/Spencerian+Penmanship+Copy+Books+Set+1-5/018351/1301425970-1130274

Thank you for the youtube link. She took about 5 minutes to do the dictation/explaining and I think in total she ended up reading those 2 sentences about 5 times. I used to feel "bad" when I had to read them more than 2 times. I feel so much better about our dictation exercises now.:)

For me the best printer is the one with the lowest cost per page cost. So, the cost of the ink is the greatest factor for me.(duplex function is a plus too.) Kodak has really low cpp. I was tempted to replace my brother multifunction ink jet, but I was able to find very cheap (non-brother ) generic ink at amazon. (10 ink cart. for about $10) You might also researching at costco or other local shops that have ink refill service as well. HTH,

I want to use a lot more audiobooks, but they are costly. I do use my local library for few selections(got all the Jim Weiss cds from there), ibrivox and other free audiobooks on the internet. Do you know anything about this... http://www.naxosspokenwordlibrary.com/subscribe.asp They do have 7-day free trial, I think I will try that first. I personally own few of naxos audiobook cds I purchased from costco while back and they were good. Their subscription costs are monthly $15 or annually $150. What do you think? I am running out on Jim Weiss cds.... They even have text feature where kids can read as they listen.

These "Flash kids" workbooks are in my cart at Barnes and Noble. lol... I have too many items sitting in the cart at various online stores. I have overspent so I am trying to be more careful.... Since this is my 1st year HSing I am still trying out different things and see which type of HSing and/or curriculum will be best fit for my kids and myself. But, after couple of scripted ones and too many workbooks I think I find myself leaning more toward CM. Now off to find out more about CM/Narration.....

Thank you!!! I feel excited, scared, nervous all at the same time...Yeah, can't believe I have all 3 at home. I am still keeping it secret to my in-laws. They will never accept nor understand about HSing. I only see them about 1-2 times a month so I think I can keep it a secret . She said her goodbyes to her teachers, friends today. She was doing parts of ETC book 3 & 4 for fun couple of months ago, but, she did those all by herself and I am not sure if she actually learned any. I will have to check on that.
