  1. I apologized for the mistakes I made, and explained the family situation from my point of view. What really gets to me is that one of my kids remembers things that never happened (double-checked with DH and the other kids the first couple of times). Also, everything this kid remembers is negative. I remember a ton of positive, happy things. The situation is better now. He doesn't belabor his points continually any more. But it took several years to arrive at this more happy place.
  2. I want a new computer. I want a week alone at home. With a 7-day deadline looming, I am sure I can get the house perfectly clean and organized, which has been my goal for over a decade. I want a handyman. an electrician, a painter, Got Junk to come and get it, and a plumber to fix all the little things that need fixing (little in scope -- much of which I cannot do myself). If I don't get those things, I want an Amazon gift card.
  3. My dishwasher's soap dispenser has to be replaced as one part, which costs $80. I just toss the tab in the bottom of the dw, and it works fine.
  4. Because they gather dust and take up space she needs for the stuff she piles on her floor. I suggested she store them in the attic.
  5. There are several good books about self-publishing on Amazon. I don't know if any of them particularly pertain to books for children. One of the best, IMO, is Jana DeLeon's book called The Naked Truth about Self-Publishing. There are more recent books available, but I haven't gotten around to reading them yet.
  6. I have a 2004 Honda CRV which is never gonna die. It is in excellent condition, so I'll keep it until it needs too go to the big junkyard in the sky. DH loves his car, so he feels the same way about it. It's about 10 years old. My mother just bought a brand new car, and I do like all the whiz bang safety and technological features it has. I was shocked at how much new cars cost, and will just trundle along with my fairly ancient vehicle because it reliably gets me where I'm going.
  7. My adult DD still has a couple of shelves full of stuffed animals. I urge her to rid herself of this scourge (except for the first one I gave her when she was born). She likes them. Apparently, my views didn't rub off on her enough. Now she buys big stuffed animals for our dogs to play with. Never mind that the dogs ignore them. The shelves at Goodwill are full of stuffed animals for a reason.
