  1. They are travelling dinosaur exhibits. They have life size dinosaurs with movement and sound. Various crafts and activities. Bounce house, face painting and such. My sister mentioned us taking my kids because my 6 almost 7 year old had been really into dinosaurs, but not as much lately. The tickets seem super expensive for what it is. I've read reviews and many say it's a rip off for what you get, insanely lone lines and such. Other reviews said it was awesome. I can't find anyone in real life that has been. How about you all? Have you been to either? Was it worth it?

We do a field trip once a month with our hs group too. My son isn't into team sports, but we hope to do a lot of hiking, swimming and playing this year for keeping active. He ran a 5k with his dad last year and he might try more this year. We never fit in art or music, but that's ok with me. We started song school Latin, but never find time for it. We may do it a bit when we find time. My son enjoys it quite a bit.
  3. I thought about patterns of nature, but I couldn't tell if it looked enjoyable or busy work from the samples.

  5. Yes, this. Dental insurance is not very good. A savings account is better and most dentists do offer a cash discount.
  6. Yep, they are all baby teeth.
  7. Right, and if she needs them later that's fine too. We do not have dental insurance, so if she needs them later, I'd rather pay later. I didn't mention in the original post, but she will be under anesthesia because we have tried twice to get work done and she is terrified and won't let it happen. She's 4. I'm not sure if I mentioned that either.
  8. Yeah, our old dentist was definitely conservative in treatment options and was all around wonderful, but he just retired and finding another like him has been impossible. Sigh.
  9. Not really. They looked it over and just wrote up a treatment plan. I know for sure she has 5 cavities, I can see them.
  10. You all find Americans annoying because they are loud and in the way and thin skinned. I just found out my husband isn't annoyed by people, but by Americans. He hates all this stuff. Maybe he is living in the wrong country. 😂
  11. Did needs some dental work. We saw a dentist and we also got a second opinion. One dentist said she need crowns on all 8 molars. The other dentist said she needs 4 fillings and 1 crown. I'm just not sure why one dentist wants to put crowns on 3 teeth that he other dentist didn't even think needed anything done to them. I am feeling like someone is trying to rip us off. The difference in the bill would be about $2,000. 😬😭😕 ETA I'm just posting to vent because I'm annoyed.
  12. Trying not to hijak this thread, but I'm curious how long you take this read and discuss approach. I'm working on relaxing my homeschool and I think this sounds like a great plan for little kids, I just feel unsure how long it is good to do this for? When do they stop being little kids and get textbooks? I know there is no set rule, I'm just curious what your "rule" is.
  13. What is it with MP? It totally draws me in with all those lovely books and then it sucks the joy out it.
  14. I'm still struggling to decide what to do for writing for my son's 4th grade year. I haven't particularly been too concerned with following TWTM, but I thought I'd check it out from the library again to see what it said for writing for this age. I see that she lists Writing Strands as an option for 4th grade. I have looked at it a bit, but I'm struggling to be sure what writing strands. From my understanding there is an original form the 80's?, a new version published by Master Books and I also see MFW has their own version called Writing Skills for Today which I think I understand is more like the original. I feel confused? So, which one does the TWTM mean? Also, if you are a fan of writing strands, which do you prefer and why? I think it is the one put out my Master Books, BUT I've been looking at curriculum a lot today so I could be confused. Thanks
  15. Oh, ok what do you do with bear? Someone offered us some bear meat a while back. The only bear meat I tasted was tough and I didn't want to commit to that much meat and not know what to do with it.
  16. I actually did this is college due to boredom and stress. I used to pluck out one hair at a time and I also pulled out my arm hair too. I don't know what it means or what should be done. My son sticks his hands in his pants when he is stressed out or nervous. Doesn't everyone have nervous habits?
  17. Even more to considerer!! I love it. I did look at the R and S books. They look great. I looked at the samples, do they do much with the alphabet in pre-k? Oh oh, the ivy kids kits look perfect. I don't mind crafts, but I do hate going out to buy supplies. We never have the supplies we want/need. lol Also, it says for ages 3-8. 3 of my 4 kids are in the age ranges, yeah that would be a winner!
  18. Thank you a million times!!! Farmland Math looks like PERFECTION!!! It looks so so gentle and fun. Yes. I'm getting this!!! I have considered a letter of the week situation. Everything I look at though introduces the alphabet in a different way. Some do upper and lowercase together, some not. Some go in alphabetical order and some do not. So is there a best way to do this approach or is all fine? My older sons had the brainquest decks loved them!! Thanks for reminding me. I don't think we have them anymore, so I'll have to get some.
  19. I have mixed feelings about MP k-2 too. The packages are lovely. It's so lovely, BUT I feel all the questions around the books are WAY overkill. Like it totally kills for me. Interesting fact about Cherly Lowe's view on preschool! So, you did AAR at 4. Hm I just recently looked at the pre-reading level. It looked nice! I think it might be a good option. She has an October birthday, so her pre k year she will be 4 turning 5. I did say I didn't want curriculum, but I'm tempted lol and all over the place.
  20. I tried FIAR with my oldest and it didn't really work out for me to well. I sure could give BFIAR a try though.
  21. Thanks. I do need to check out the Beechick book. Texan pm'd a while back (I never did get a chance to respond oops). I will try to get to it
  22. Well, I thought reflex math would free me up from doing flashcards. I am not doing any work with history, the kids do it on their own except some of the literature. I'm not sure how FLL and WWE will work out. I haven't done that for 2nd grade before. I don't have a lot of time, I have 2 little ones as well.
  23. No true issue. Any good game suggestions?
