  1. I'm also playing catch up from when I was a child and didn't really get to read much. My mother wouldn't take us to the library ... too much trouble. The only books I got to check out were when I was in school and then we were only allowed two a week. I just finished reading "The Indian in the Cupboard" and "Trouble's Daughter" which are technically children's books, but I found them very interesting. Now I am waiting for the people who have the sequel to "Indian in the Cupboard" checked out to return them so I can read it. *sigh*
  2. What age/grade are these books most suitable for?
  3. I am looking for all types of science ... meaning Earth Science, Astronomy, Chemistry, and Physics.
  4. So littel time. Do you ever find yourself wanting to check out almost every book from the library? I do this almost every time I do to the library (which is at least once a week). My daughter is right there with me too. We almost always get all the books we can carry between us. Did you know our library has a limit of 100 books being checked out at one time? They said it is very rare to find someone who actually tried to exceed that limit (I didn't even know they had a limit).
  5. This is for around 4th through 6th grade level with very little science experience. How can I go about doing this? Thanks.
  6. than the ages of your boys. My daughter and I really enjoyed Across Five Aprils, but I don't think your boys would agree. I would have to go with the previous post and recommend Rifles for Watie or Behind Rebel Lines.
  7. Does anyone know when this is due out? I looked all over their website and could not find the information I wanted. Also, is there anyway of finding out what books were used in Classical Four? Thanks.
  8. When is this due out? I've looked all over their website and can't seem to find the information I am looking for. Also, is there a way to find out what books were part of Classic Year Four? Thanks.
  9. I did post it over there as well and no one over there has even responded to it.
  10. pretty much all the way through. Do you feel that following the logic stage of TWTM helped prepare your student adequately for the rhetoric stage? What did you add to the program or change that may have helped or did you follow TWTM to a T?
  11. I was particularly wondering how well this prepares someone for a "Great Books" study. If anyone has any experience with this I would appreciate your responding.
  12. Just a curious question ... you all use initials for everything ... what is "LCC"?
  13. I was reading some in Designing Your Own Classical Curriculum last night and came across a statement about the "seven liberal arts", but I couldn't find where it said what they were.
  14. This year we just muted them because they weren't even worth listening to. :(
  15. I'm a huge and I mean HUGE Eli Manning fan so it was totally awesome to see him win and get the MVP. Sorry, but it was equally cool to see the Pats lose.:D
  16. and it seems like the only time we go in there is to bring something out to use ... like a book to read or a project to work on or whatever. It has just become the room the houses the books and other school stuff. Oh well, at least I tried.
  17. This is all very helpful. I was referring to the actually school work itself... the papers for all the different subjects. Thanks a lot everyone who responded. :)
  18. I asked this regarding using Ambleside, but didn't get many responses (only one actually) so I will ask it regarding any program you happen to be using. I just want to get better organized and could use some tips regarding this. Thank you! Luanne
