amo_mea_filiis.
Dd has lost internet time until i randomly decide otherwise. She doesn't listen, she mimics what she reads and see and it affects her behavior. Tomorrow my father will be here with the kids while I'm having surgery (tubes- which means fairly early check in, and wait, wait, wait). Ds is no longer fond of my father so he has no patience. I try to teach respect and all that jazz, but my father really does pick on ds, so there's not much more i can do. My father jumps anytime ds says or does something to dd. dd could literally poke ds all day, and the moment ds loses it, my father jumps on him. So... Do i allow dd to have internet on her ipod while I'm at the hospital? She will happily hang out in her room and will have no time to fight with ds. She will also ignore his carp and walk away if she is near him. The downside is the "recovery" period. Dd will act like an idiot for a week after this. There is no other way to describe it. Seriously, picture an 11yo going through her day mimicking an anime character in actions and words. If i do not allow internet, ds will be in the middle of dd and my father subtly making fun of him. :( dd will correct something that ds says, my father will laugh, then ds will scream and curse up to his room, and again will be laughed at. I've been on dd lately about not correcting/laughing at/making fun of ds, and will continue to do so. My babysitting choices are my father or my "friend." The tubes need to be done now before i get another infection and a blow out. Surgery was supposed to be done a few weeks ago and ds was going to go to his father's. This is not an option now. Sorry so long for something that should be simple.
momofkhm
I would too. It's one day and then you can take it away again. Sometimes peace comes first. :grouphug: for the surgery
amo_mea_filiis.
Thank you. She will be crazy excited. I hate that something always comes up where i have to bend the rules. If there is no fighting, and she watches out for her brother, I'll leave with internet Wednesday while ds and i are in Philly.

amo_mea_filiis.
Thanks again! Feel free to remind me of this thread when i come whining about dd's behavior next week. Lol.
Alexigail
You could still frame it as "we're trying this out to see how it goes". Maybe the excitement about having it back will help keep her behavior in check. I hope everything goes well for you!
Harriet Vane
I would allow it under these circumstances.
Katy
I would definitely mention that if she wants the chance to keep access to it, she better continue to behave in a way that fits your family standards, and NOT the way that she sees on the internet. Also, I might specifically ban the sites where she is modeling the worst behavior from.
Parrothead
I'd let her have it with the understanding that this is the random time. Any nonsense and it gets taken away again. Perhaps with that in place she will fear losing it at least during your recovery.
amo_mea_filiis.
My recovery should just be a few hours after waking, and I'll wear ear muffs for a few days because of sound differences. The only thing she wants is warrior cats RPG, and that's one of the reasons she lost it. That and logging onto my candy love which is banned. I know she'll go on the warrior cats site, but anything beyond that and she loses internet on Wednesday. After this, her internet use will be limited to my laptop and in front of me.
