Drum roll.........The concerto is memorized! I think I've just held my breath for three weeks!

Big exhale...big, giant, huge exhale.

 

No, I did not memorize "from scratch" a concerto in three weeks. However, I did ressurect one I hadn't played since I was 26 and I'm now 44. So, I think that counts as hard work.

 

Of course, next week I have some rehearsals with the "orchestra" and that's going to be.....hmmmm....not easy. As it turns out, my accompaniment is a symphonic band of talented youth. Unfortunately, they've never done a work of this size and difficulty before. However, I'm pleased for them that they are getting this opportunity and we'll make the most of it.

 

That's okay. It's a benefit dinner in a podunk, back-hole of Michigan. People will be fine.

 

I do think that between now and then, I may have to take a hiatus from making those lacey fabric flowers that have to be held over a candle. I have a sore finger now!

 

Anyway, no need for response. I just needed to let that out and relax.

Well, I would, but I don't think I'll have permission from the director. They generally control that. However, if he puts it out there, I'll post a link. The performance isn't for a while yet.
