Stacey in MA
Hi all! I've decided to take the plunge and get music lessons for the kids. We have a piano, but all 3 olders want to learn guitar!! Go figure! DH is ALMOST against the idea since we'll have to buy/rent/pay extra for guitars, as well as pay for lessons. Any ideas on where to get cheap kids sized guitars? I think I can sway him if the costs aren't too high.... I remember homeschool buy's co-op had them in several sizes around Christmas time for a reasonable price (maybe around $100?), but I'm not finding them on the site now. Boo hoo! Thanks in advance for the ideas! - Stacey in MA
chickenpatty
Dh got a really nice Fender from a pawn shop for $100. You could ask around at music stores, or look at craigslist or other places like that.
momofkhm
It's a consignment store for music items. It's where I got dh's guitar several years ago. I think he got the electric and bass off craig's list.
elegantlion
check out this selection at musiciansfriend.com. I've ordered from them several times, including a guitar and keyboard, with good customer service.
Hillary in KS
check out this selection at musiciansfriend.com. I've ordered from them several times, including a guitar and keyboard, with good customer service. We've used Musician's Friend as well. We ordered a $99 starter pack. I *think* it was this one: http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ibanez-IJV50-JamPack-Quick-Start?sku=519456
Stacey in MA
Those look like a good deal. What size is that one that came in the kit - is it kid sized? Thanks! - Stacey
Jeanne in MN
I vote Musician's Friend too. Someone here recommended it and I am very pleased wtih my guitar. My mom who's had her guitar for decades, liked mine so well, she ordered one too. Good luck!
bettyandbob
I frequently order from muscisian's friend, but I'd put a "wanted" on freecycle and check the pawn shop first. Both Guitar Center and Musician's Friend have used, and "scratch and dent" (instruments that work well, but have marks that do not allow "new" sale price).
