Quiver, what may have went wrong with my cinnamon roll dough?

Recommended Posts

It was one big blob. I have made your cinnamon rolls successfully many times. I followed the recipe exactly. The only thing I can think of was that I did not have enough flour to measure out at once so it took a few minutes to get another bag out, opened and measured. Could the flour sitting in the mixer for the few minutes altered the outcome? Any ideas?

The flour sitting in the mixer should not have made any difference unless perhaps when you came back to it you lost track of how much you'd already put in. Could your yeast have been old or destroyed by other conditions?

I'd also guess it's a counting problem - something like being short 1 cup. I've done it a bunch of times. :glare: I try to measure out into a separate bowl now & then if I need to, I can remeasure it; I do this esp. when I'm making big batches because I can't eyeball as well what is already in the bowl, and I inevitably lose track....

If it looks like the yeast is working but the mess is just too gloopy, I add more flour during a knead.
