Night Elf
I packed up Sonlight and returned it for a refund, then re-enrolled with K12. I was definitely surprised. My DH has taken a very active role in our homeschooling and I'm truly grateful and thankful for his participation. I see the benefits of a consistent school day in the children. But our main program was Sonlight Core 5 and no one was really enjoying it the way I was! The best part of the core was the Eastern Hemisphere Explorer. The kids loved the researching and activity pages. During a family discussion, they confessed they missed K12 and my DH agreed. My dd10 talked about how the flip-flopping has been annoying and that she wants to return and stick with K12. She sounded so mature in her reasoning. DH really likes Singapore Math and Life of Fred so the kids are sticking with those programs as planned. And everyone likes Winston Grammar so we'll continue to do 3 sentences a day just as additional exposure. Our (DH and I) educational philosophies are kind of opposite. He's very traditional and academic and I'm unschooly and relaxed. I don't have any negative feelings about the changes. I really do like K12 as a traditional program. I just feel more like a student with the kids than in a teacher role though. It's liberating really. Homeschooling has and continues to be such a challenge for me and my personality. :)
Lovedtodeath
It's liberating really. Homeschooling has and continues to be such a challenge for me and my personality. :) I know what you mean. We need to have something more structured or I don't do it. I am glad you seem happy about the change.
unsinkable
That's cool, Beth. It is nice when everyone is on the same page. :)
Tree House Academy
We had a hard time too at first. We chose Calvert and it just wasn't for us. We did finally find out niche with what we are doing now. I hope this change works well for you and your family. :)
