lulubelle
We are doing saxon 1, ZB writing K, ETC 1, and Phonics Pathways. Does he need a vacation? I'm sort of scared to stop the flow! What is a reasonable time off?
StephanieF
I am cutting back to the basics over Christmas but I don't want to stop reading and writing plus a bit of maths. Over the summer we had 3 weeks with nothing and he forgot sooooo much! i will just get him to read to me, write a page in his hw book and do a page of simple sums to keep him remembering the basics Stephanie
Aurelia
If both of you are doing well and are happy with what you are doing, you don't necessarily need a break. We scaled back this month to just reading and math because we are so busy, but that's just our family. I plan to take a complete break for a week or two in the spring or summer when we will need it, and just do reading and math again for another few weeks until we are ready to ramp back up again for the new school year. Goldilocks
When we take breaks it is because *I* need a break or we have a busy week. My children asked to keep doing history over Christmas break. THey could just keep going!
LadyAberlin
I don't like taking breaks because it seems we have at least a week or two when we start up again of ds dragging his heels. If we don't take breaks things go a lot more smoothly.
Emilylou
We will be cutting down to every other day for the next couple weeks. Between extra shopping, visiting with school friends and the holiday- we can't do school every day but I also don't want to take a 2 week break from reading and math. KrissiK
Our schedule is pretty busy generally, so we do school 3-4 days a week as it is. We're just doing kinder, so it doesn't matter. I'm doing school maybe 1-2 days next week and maybe 2-3 days the week after, obviously taking the holidays off and whatever days Daddy has off. Malenki
We take time off in little chunks but at that age I found my oldest did better with a week or more off from some of his subjects. When we came back to them he was fresh and eager and learned much faster. It always seemed like the previous content had solidified in his brain while he had a chance to catch his (mental) breath. We don't tend to take any time off right now; we save it for the week we usually have sometime in February or March that is unseasonably warm. :o)

Tabrett
I'm taking 2 weeks off. Today was our last day. Yeah!!! I have completed 15 weeks. We will start back on Jan. 5th. I'm not having my k'er do anything over the next two weeks. We are on a good flow, but my dc needs a play break. I believe breaks are helpful and necessary. koko
We are definitely break-ing :D but will continue reading for fun. We're taking two weeks, back Jan. 5.
Laura Corin
We are taking two weeks off. I think a break is good, so long as it's not too long. Laura
WTMindy
I would just keep going on the days you are home and on the days you have other activities, do those. If everybody is happy.....don't rock the boat. :-)
