DH and I played Cartographers for the first time just now. Definitely works fine for two people.

Each person gets a piece of paper with a grid drawn on it, and you have to draw in the squares tetris-style with configurations of trees, water, villages, etc.. You flip one card indicating how many squares, in what shape, and with which terrain type that you need to fill in, then each person decides where to mark their own map. Sometimes there are ambush cards, where you get to fill on spots on your neighbor's map.

That is the basic play of the game, but there are other things that add complexity -- for each round, you have goals that gain points at the end of the round, such as how many empty spaces on your map are surrounded by filled-in spaces.

On first play, it was hard to remember all of the things that we were supposed to be considering as we filled in our maps, but that should become easier on repeat plays. DH said, "I can see how this could be fun, once you know what you are doing."

Not the most thrilling game ever, but a nice way to spend some time together.
