Robin in Tx
http://nces.ed.gov/timss/results07.asp Are we going to see Hong Kong math now? :) Robin
Karen in CO
Hong Kong has been way above the U.S., but their score in the 2003 test was 575. We'd have to see a stronger upward trend before we changed. ;) and they'd have to market some cute pink workbooks.
Robin in Tx
It was a joke... :) but I did think everyone would like to see the results!! The Timms always sets off a few good conversations (or should I say arguments :). ETA: I thought there was some good news in the report. especially the part about the students on the lower end of the scoring scale having made improvement. That really is good news... Karen in CO
Alright - I'll go make myself another pot of coffee and wake up my funny meter. I knew it was a joke. I tried to respond with humor, it is late, you should have seen my face. I almost came up with some convincing bogus statistics - I gotta quit reading computer books and this time of day statistics - even fake ones - make my head hurt. But you have to admit that the Singapore choice of workbook colors is interesting. I know it adds something to it. Why is 3 pink? Why was 2 green? What color is 4? I don't remember what color NEM is. I see you were reading to reports too. My hubby rolls his eyes when I tell him about this stuff. Beth in SW WA
Another reason to get my little girls going on Singapore (along w/ Saxon at classical school). My neighbor girl showed me here Simms math book recently. Scary.
