Accountability Thread 1/9-1/15

Morning! Last week was rough but a lot of things were done. Hopefully this week will be better.

Today's goals:

House: chores, linens

Gardens: none (watering Monday)

Cooking: chicken fried steaks, broccoli, potatoes, gravy (prepping chicken for chicken and rice tomorrow)

School: art today

Writing: journal, revisions, reading

Extra: some forms to fill out

Also dealing with overwhelm at the moment, so trying to keep my list very short and not stuffed.

Good morning!

Today's list is short and sweet:

finish making a set of magnetic letters*

laundry

run to the store for more ice melt (we're expecting rain, then a heavy freeze)

prep for school this week

make dinner: chipotle chicken chili.  With the freeze coming, this will be a welcome hot bowl of yumminess.

*so, the magnetic letters.  I've been helping out a teacher during reading time and she was so frustrated that one of the kids couldn't read the word "they" (or any of the other digraph sight words).  I noticed that she was only teaching it two ways: saying the word and writing the word, so I told her I'd bring bring a set of letters so we could break it up with a drag-and-say approach.  I have a file I made that I adjust for each situation: adding clock numbers, using writing guide lines, Reading Mastery font, adjusted spacing for digraphs..

She told me there was no need, and dug out a set of Melissa & Doug large, uppercase wooden letters.

I did not use her set.

I taught with a white board and "magic buttons" for each sound that day (press the button, say the sound).  The child can now read and remember at least the /th/, still working on the /ey/.

And tomorrow, I'll bring the other set so she has age appropriate materials in her classroom.  They are laminated, cut, I just need to finish the magnets on the backs.

Morning! It's cold, sunny, and my back really hurts. But it's not as bad as yesterday.

Today's goals:

House: chores, very light cleaning

Gardens: watering only the containers I don't have to lift

Cooking: chicken and rice, broccoli, fruit and cheese for dessert

School: usual

Writing: journal, revisions, reading

Extra: some phone calls

Morning. Still cold. Still hurting. Last night was not good. But resting seems to make things feel better. I don't feel really rough until the evening.

Today's goals:

House: chores

Gardens: container watering-orchids

Cooking: pizza night

School: usual

Writing: journaling, revisions, reading, queries

Extra: errands in town

Morning.

I have no goals.  Dh, ds, and I had a boatload of stress last night and it translated to none of us sleeping well. We're all zombies today.

To do:

School with ds.  Reading, videos, not much else.

Take ds to scouts/pay for the year

Dinner? Glad I made an extra lasagna last week for the freezer.

Nap.  Definitely nap.

Look up the specific age-related guidelines for ds's former activity.  I'll prep for our meeting tomorrow when I'm more awake.

Morning. Worked all day yesterday, and I mean all day. It was very busy.

Today's goals:

House: chores (the boys cleaned house yesterday while I worked!)

Gardens: watering lemons and agave

Cooking: making the chicken fried steaks today. I wanted them earlier in the week, but was out of GF flour, so I traded a meal plan

School: usual

Writing: journal, revisions, reading, some studying!

Other than that, my back still hurts, and I want to get a walk in later today.

....

🤣   I was just wondering, the other day, what y'all were up to these days ...

& I hope your back was better for the weekend.

This week has been sort of surreal, but fine.  Today:

  1. Wrap up various loose ends of the week.
  2. Do weekly planning, have goals for getting main level of house packed out for various work to begin, set outdoor plans, CM focus
  3. \get my annual goals up on the rpg discord
  4. Fitness for me; make boys do a quarter hour or so of chores; straighten house, esp. work on bathrooms
