If my kids are sick enough to go to the doctor they are probably not up to being alone and answering questions. Ds14 I ask if he wants me. Ds12 I don't. Da14 went into the dentist alone for the first time this year (when I was at school the dental clinics were school based and you went alone from 5, now they are centralised and you are expected to remain with the kid the whole time). My oldest thought that only women were allowed to be doctors until he was about 7 but there is a male at the GP practice he could switch to if he wanted.
