Pintosrock
Looking into something Spanish for dd7. She's part-time with the local school and, well, online Spanish is a disaster. We have Song School Spanish, we're two chapters in and while it's orders of magnitude better than online, it's not very challenging (tracing letters to write words is apparently beneath her) Has anyone gotten a subscription to One Third Stories? This seems interesting, but there doesn't seem to be any recent reviews online. Or can someone recommend something else we might consider? I recently had a chance to look at Flip Flop Spanish, and it looks one of the best things I've seen for elementary Spanish. I've also used Español para chicos y grades, and the same provider ( allbilingual.com ) also has one for younger kids, Español para chicos - you could see if either of those look interesting. Jentrovert
We have several of the One Third Stories books. We like the books; as would be expected, they are somewhat contrived, but not too bad. Lots of silliness, which my kids love. If you have a more serious kid, well, it's not great literature or anything. There were flashcards as well, and some activities. We did not do many of the activities. It's not an actual curriculum, just introduces vocabulary in a gentle way by gradually replacing English words with Spanish.
BakersDozen
I subscribed to One Third Stories as a fun supplement to what I've used for many years and with many dc (Teach Them Spanish!). OTS was...OK. I got through about 6 months and cancelled my subscription. It's not bad but it wasn't worth the continued investment, imo.
