Jami
http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2008/nov/15/malcolm-gladwell-outliers-extract The focus is primarily about the computer industry and Silicon Valley entrepreneurs towards the end. But I found the discussion of musical talent very interesting. And I think homeschooling is a great way to open doors for children to truly have the time to master a field they're passionate about. :001_smile:
amy g.
Thanks. I sent this to my computer obsessed, music obsessed son.
Jean in Newcastle
Very interesting. I guess I'd better stop trying to make my kids so well-rounded and let them go with their obsessions!
musicmommy
What a fascinating article! Personally, I will never forget my last couple of years in college when I was able to put in around 3 hours a day practice on my flute. I could pretty much play anything and everything that was put in front of me. ah....I miss those days.
Susan in KY
Fascinating is certainly the right word to describe that article! Thanks for sharing. The thought struck me that homeschoolers are in a perfect position to do the same thing, in terms of time required to achieve that success. Thanks!
