Eastern Orthodox Lent begins on Monday ...

Good strength to all those pressing through the 40+ days leading up to the Resurrection of our Lord (Orthodox, Catholic, and Protestant).  Our Lenten journey begins Monday, the day after "Forgiveness Vespers," during which we traditionally ask for forgiveness from all those at our parish, and others we see that day and that week. We go through the difficult journey of Lent together, in peace.

For anyone interested in more information on how the Eastern Orthodox practice Lent, Holy Week and (eventually!) Pascha, here's a great link (-->  http://antiochian.org/lent ) and another one (--> https://www.goarch.org/en/lent ).

May it be blessed!

I admit, Lent (and then Holy Week after that) feel daunting every year.  Seven weeksUgh!  Lord have mercy.  But I try to both "press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me" and remember "it is good for me to cleave unto God and to place in Him the hope of my salvation."  I long to find the joy in the struggle against myself.
