If you created a hook/shelf area to organize ...

If you don't want to commit to something permanent without a trial run, you might try a couple of coat trees and a small bookcase or bins.

We don't have as many kids or very much space, so we put a 4-cube IKEA bookcase in our front closet for co-op days, library books, etc. You can fit a filled bookbag in one cubby. This style of bookcase has many options for the number of cubby holes. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/categories/series/27534/

I also really recommend a book that is for people with ADHD, but it's really just common sense, non-burdensome organization (vs. organization for people who enjoy organizing): https://www.amazon.com/Organizing-Solutions-People-Revised-Updated/dp/1592335128
