Legomom
My cousins have a cattle ranch and gave us some beef. It has a fairly strong flavor and I wondered if there is a way to cook it to make it milder. I have some sirloin steak and wondered about stewing it. Any tips would be appreciated. Jennifer in NH
put it in a slow cooker with some red wine. or soak it in milk for 8 hours or more drain milk and cook. I prefer the first one. The alcohol cooks off and then I have a very tender and non gamey beef. or...use it in a spicy chili and you won't taste the gameyness (is that a word?) either. Once
I soak venison in soya sauce before I cook it, it seems to help the strong taste. Of course, red wine is a good idea as well. :D
Cricket
I made a venison roast the other day by putting it in the crockpot and then sprinkling some beef stew seasoning over it. The kids couldn't tell the difference between that and beef and my dh kept asking, "Are you sure this is the deer meat?" I bet some of that seasoning with the red wine would be yummy!
