mirabillis
Someone mentioned PE was required for UC schools... is it? I don't recall seeing that. I thought it was just A-G. Am I missing something?
OlgaLA
I thought PE was required for graduating a public school in CA, but not for admissions, but we are still a few years away from applying.
Jilly
My son will be starting at UCI in the fall. We had no PE on his transcript.

quark
PE is not required for the academic portion of the application. A included some PE classes in the extracurriculars section. Accepted to 5 UCs. Edited June 14, 2017 by quark

FYI I think PE is required for CSU's just in case your student is interested in Cal Poly SLO My son just found out today (at community college) that he has to take PE because he plans to apply to both SLO and several UC's

mirabillis
Let us know what you find out. Thanks everyone for so much input!
learners4life
It is not required for UC's, but because we live in CA, where there is a PE requirement, we included it on the transcript as P for pass. Therefore, it was not included in the GPA.
...................
OK, yes I misunderstood. They made my son take PE because it is required for an AA degree, which we figured he may as well do, in addition to fulfilling IGETCE.
Arcadia
They made my son take PE because it is required for an AA degree, which we figured he may as well do, in addition to fulfilling IGETCE. I'm not seeing that requirement for AS degree or IGETC on Foothill's website. My kids will be there for a one week summer camp next month so I'll just ask.
...................
I know I thought it was weird too. I'm going to double check. But it'll be an AA degree with a certificate in computer science. He'll Only be two classes short of a math AS but he doesn't think he can handle any more math. :)
