Murrayshire
I've been looking at math options for rising 11th (Alg II) and 9th (Alg.I) graders. I am wondering if anyone has used Mr. D Math (https://mrdmath.com) and/or Live Online Math (http://www.liveonlinemath.com/classes/algII.html) and can give me some good/bad experiences. We need a solid Math this year, especially for my 9th grader! Thank you!

MarkT
Oh wow! Thank you! I guess I didn't do a great job looking...... It is actually hard to find since the forum search tool can't seem to find it. It probably needs to get pinned.
dereksurfs
I actually researched Mr. D Math quite a bit while exploring various online providers for our middle dd next year. This forum's search functions poorly for this because of how short his name is (Mr. D). Here's a recent thread discussing it: http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/636151-mr-d-math/ Google's search algorithm yields far better results: https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS735US735&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=mr.+d+math+site:http://forums.welltrainedmind.com I really liked what I read about Mr. D's classes. The final part of my research included playing samples of the vendors for our dds' input. Our middle dd is not a math lover and has always struggled with it. So this year I decided to try Derek Owens and it has been the best math year of her life. However, I thought I wanted a live course for her next. Well, after listening to several other online providers she practically begged us to stay with Derek Owens. So that is what we decided to do, especially after all of her hard work this year which has really paid off. It was hard to argue with her new found success. Time will tell how Algebra 1 goes next year. But her more positive attitude will definitely help.

Thank you for digging around and pulling out these Mr. D experiences! I'll look into Derek Owens again but dd thought it was too dry from what video sample we watched. She doesn't like math, yet, so I really need her to appreciate the resource so she can appreciate the skill (math). Thank you again, Jana

Maybe she would like someone more "folksy" like Dana Mosely.
crimson
Hello! I passed class Algebra II and later SAT Math Bootcamp and I can say that these are good courses that helped me a lot in preparing for the exams. In some moments I still used resource https://answershark.com/algebra/ to find some answers to my questions. In general, this is an excellent service and if you want to use it, then I recommend it. satellite
I'm taking MrDmath for my Algebra 2 course. Great teacher - best math teacher I've ever had actually. A lot of my friends (in public school) are struggling with Algebra 2, and I happen to understand the concepts way more than them. I thank Mr. D for this! He's also very enthusiastic when he teaches, so that keeps me from drifting off to sleep or not paying attention (:

Many!! https://www.youtube.com/user/MrDMathLive/videos And here's a page where you can request a demo: https://www.mrdmath.com/curriculum/pre-calculus-with-trigonometry/ I think some people are off put by his voice (odd right? I've seen some people say this), but he's an AMAZING teacher. The prices are so good too!
Kari C in SC
We are just finishing up our first year using pre Algebra with Christy Edwards at http://Www.highschoolmathlive.com . We loved it! I can’t say enough good about this class. Obviously, that can vary from teacher to teacher, but we are enrolling for algebra next year. Absolutely no complaints from me or my 13 year old son.
