VPN companies

when we had one, it was because we were in Brazil, and couldn't access some US based websites without using one.

The one that we used is called (sub real letters for where I've changed them....and take out the spaces) Hide My @$$ (slang for bottom or donkey), and worked pretty well. I don't know of any others. I mean, I know plenty of others exist, but this was the one we used (suggested by lots of our other international friends).

I keep reading that Gmail hides your home's IP addresses. It doesn't hide the server's IP. Is that true? Using the library WiFi won't work because it'll still indicate I'm in the vicinity, I think. So enter VPNs. Thanks for the recommendations, I'll look into them. So it's legal if I'm in the U.S.?
