EmilyGF
Do you use Goodreads to help your kids track their reading? How has it worked? How do you have your children interact with it? Thanks, Emily
jjeepa
A few months ago we set up an account for my 13 year old dd and she really enjoyed logging all the books she's read. She also added the books she's currently reading, but does need reminders to keep her account updated. She also set a reading goal for the year for the first time ever and is having fun tracking that. I think once she gets in the habit of using Goodreads to track her reading, she'll get more enjoyment out of it. She has one friend who plans on setting up an account, but I'm the only person she interacts with for now.
marbel
I had my kids do it one year. It was OK. They never really enjoyed doing it and wouldn't use goodreads for exploring new books, etc. It might have been better if they'd had some friends also using it. But getting my kids to track their reading was a huge pain anyway. They just didn't want to do it.
Coco_Clark
I tried with my oldest 3 this year but they just weren't into it. It was a hassle to force them to do it. So now they just keep a paper log in the back of their commonplace journal. I think I would have had better luck if they were older/had personal devices. Guest
I tried with oldest. It's been a flop. She thought it was fun when we first set it up, but as with PP, she didn't stick with it. Now, I, on the other hand, LOVE it. But I'm old and can't remember what I have and haven't read. 14 year olds don't have that problem. CuriculumMom
I love Goodreads! I use it to track the books that my kids read, as well as to add books that they may want to read in the future. It also gives you book recommendations based on what you've read (like Amazon does when you purchase products). My kids are on the young side, so I am not sure if an older child would like interacting with it
Loesje22000
I think it depends on having a circle of 'friends'. The first year, I did not get the clue of Goodreads. But now I have some virtual friends, Goodreads is much more fun / interesting.
