HappyGrace
I've been sick a long long time and constantly need new reading material. Nothing scary, gory, creepy, disturbing, depressing! Loved Maeve Binchy. Also liked John Grisham. Anything that's a light but good read.

Guest
I recently read Girl on the Train and What Alice Forgot in my bookclub. Here are a couple others I liked a lot that fit your description: Remarkable Creatures Tracey Chevalier The Invention of Wings Sue Monk Kidd And the one I finished today, The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry. Rachel Joyce. Although I did not love the very last bit of the book. ETA: I see that you said you started Girl on the Train...that book gets rather dark. If you don't want anything creepy, gory or scary, you might want to lay that one aside a while. With that said, I thought it was a very engrossing book. But yeah - pretty dark. One of my favorites, which I have re-read multiple times from my late teens. The Cazalet Chronicle (series) by Elizabeth Jane Howard. It was actually a four book series for a long time; I just found out the fifth was recently published and it's waiting for me on my Kindle. I found the first four engrossing. Shell Seekers and Coming Home by Rosamunde Pilcher. Edited November 6, 2016 by TrixieB
ondreeuh
I was going to suggest Kate Morton too! Tell the Wolves I'm Home is great, but a bit of a tearjerker. One Came Home is great but a tiny bit sad. Did you read Gone Girl? The Martian? Oh, The Thirteenth Tale was great! (Setterfield, I believe) A sweet kid's book is The Greenglass House. Sort of like The Westing Game. Edited November 6, 2016 by ondreeuh
