How much does MCT step up between levels?

Dd1 is approaching the end of MCT Island. It is a good level for her currently, comfortably challenging. I'm wondering if we should continue right on with Town level, or take a detour and do something else for a while in between. How big is the step up from one level to the next? If we don't go right on, what would you suggest in the mean time? I'm interested in Treasured Conversations. If you have experience with both TC and MCT, do you think they can go well together? Or would that be lots of repetition?

There is a huge step up in vocab. Island level vocab is intro, but Town level vocab has a looooot of meat.

Grammar isn't that different. It will introduce more phrases, but much of it will be a review. Writing book focuses on a paragraph and is an excellent read even if you don't do actual writing assignments, so in short, only the vocab book is significantly harder.

When I received the box with Town level, I almost didn't show my daughter the Caesar's English book because it was such a drastic step up that I thought she would be put off. I was quite wrong, and she loves it.

If you do the writing assignments, then Pargraph Town is a huge step up as well. Despite the name, the assignments quickly move into essays. This is the one piece I've had to shelve for a while.

Grammar and poetry are a very gentle step up.

I use each piece at the pace we need rather than a whole level. For Caesars English, we are using it behind schedule, and are just now beginning CE2 even though we finished grammar voyage. I also don't do all the writing assignments, but we do a wwe style writing across the curriculum so mct is not our main writing.

We have found the jumps in difficulty appropriate so far.
