athomeontheprairie
Somehow my plan backfired. My daughter is now being asked to provide either a craft or a game for our once a month 4h meetings. Games are easier. Crafts... Not my strong suit. Does your club do crafts? What projects did your dc/you love? Any great projects that could easily span a wide age range and appeal to both genders? Looking for ideas. Tia
hellen
My kids did a braided dog toy from old t-shirts. They donated them to a shelter. They had more fun than they expected.
Wheres Toto
What is the project area of the club? Should the craft relate to that? I get most of my craft ideas through Pinterest searches. You can find pretty much anything on there.
6packofun
OK, I am not super crafty myself but I spent part of my afternoon looking through these rug hooking projects! SO stinking cute! (I'm doing locker hooking rather than latch hook, btw. They are a bit different.) I'm going to make coasters because we need some. There are YouTube videos on how to do this, too. https://www.etsy.com/shop/DesignsInWool?ref=l2-shopheader-name§ion_id=7826694 This shop has both patterns and whole kits. This is the YouTube video I watched and learned something new! I like how "locker hooking" uses fabric to create rounded "nubs" rather than loose yarn... I get most of my craft ideas through Pinterest searches. You can find pretty much anything on there. They haven't decided yet. We won't know until the next meeting. Projects being considered: photography, crafts (!), rocketry, geology, foods. I love Pinterest, but it's a giant time suck. Maybe it's just my searching skills. I'd like to narrow it down n before I head over there.

And something many would like!

This is not an easy project for young children. I took a leaders' workshop in rug hooking (not latch hook) alongside my teen a few years ago and it was challenging for both of us. I took a leaders' workshop in rug hooking (not latch hook) alongside my teen a few years ago and it was challenging for both of us. So I watched a couple videos, and yes I agree. This is beyond what I want. It's awesome, but not quite what I'm looking for. Problem is... I don't know WHAT we need 😀

magic
We have painted pet rocks, used alcohol ink on tiles, sprayed tye dyed shirts, worked on a club scrapbook, made cards, used washi tape and paint to decorate bottles, decorated cupcakes and cookies, made bird seed bells, leather stamped bookmarks, and more. Project leaders usually have some ideas that also count as practice projects for the kids.
