lulubelle
We have been using Dixon Ticonderoga pencils for years. Typically, we think they are great, but the last couple of batches of HB 2 soft have been terrible! They are brittle and break easily! My son said if he looks at it before sharpening, he can tell if it will break or not. As though, how they put it together is off all the sudden and causing them to break. Anyone else experiencing this as well, or have a great alternative pencil to look for? Edited September 2, 2016 by lulubelle

greenbeanmama
Do you still have the box? Are the Ticonderogas made in Mexico or China? We've noticed the ones for Mexico are awesome. The ones from China....quality goes down.
wintermom
Our favourite pencils are Staedtler norica - blue with white erasers. Next are yellow Ticonderoga HB soft. We've bought, and kind of liked, the Ticonderoga black ones with the 3 corners. They were harder to sharpen, and more expensive.
lulubelle
Thank you! Our latest box is from China! I'll check the others out.
Tiramisu
I'd call the company. I had a similar problem a couple of years ago and they replaced the bad boxes I had purchased.
kolamum
We had one batch that was terrible & learned that it was likely where they made. Very frustrating when we have to import them so we can't peek at where they are made prior to purchase. I actually need to purchase more, but I'm nervous.
