shadah
Is Classical Conversations Latin worth memorizing? We are not part of a group, but I own the cds. Dd is interested in Latin, but would it be worth having her copy or recite any of it? Is the grammar likely to be taught in a different order or format in an actual Latin program? importswim
From what I've seen it's memorizing endings/declensions/conjugations and those are always helpful to memorize.
ScoutTN
Since they use Henle for the older kids, their memory work probably comes straight from there. Very solid, basic stuff that would benefit any student of Latin, no matter what program he was using.
MeganW
Cycles 1 & 2, yes. Cycle 3, maybe not so much.
aaplank
Oh, yes! My kids memorized all 3 cycles of CC Latin before they were 8 years old. They understood none of it at the time, but when we started a formal Latin program years later, it clicked for them and made learning Latin grammar a breeze. I highly recommend it.
Aloha2U
Coming from CC Cycle 2 (way back in 1st grade) and then using Latin for Children (levels A-C), LfC was far more beneficial than CC. LfC is memorization, and in context. ETA: I had thought that we'd do CC memory work at home, but there was just so much better out there to use that it wasn't necessary or desirable. To CC's credit, we do prefer their skip counting songs as a precursor for learning math facts. We still use those up to this day when in a pinch. Lol!
