Technical school programs

What's the difference between a degree and a diploma? I'm looking at a specific program and the degree requires 62 hours and the diploma requires 55. And how do I find out what kinds of jobs such a program would prepare a student for? For example, one of them is Computer Support Specialist.

Is it a privately owned school or a public school (CC, etc.)?    I would want to know what success they have in placing graduates of their program, before signing on the dotted line. Especially with private schools, many of them are just out for the money and place few if any of their graduates in positions they trained for.  GL

It's part of the technical college system of Georgia and is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Yeah biggest differences are time to complete the program and focus.  A diploma program generally only has courses that pertain specifically to the area being studied while the degree has you take additional courses.  In some fields a diploma program is perfectly fine and standard in that field.  For example, medical assisting or culinary arts are often diploma programs rather than degree programs.

According to the TCSG:

Degree: a two-year Associate Degree conferred on students by a postsecondary institution upon completion of a unified program of study in academic discipline at the Undergraduate level.

Diploma: a credential indicating satisfactory completion of training in an academic program of study offered by a postsecondary institution that is not an Associate Degree.
