AP Bio: How's it going this year?

How is AP biology going this year?  I'd love to hear from PA Homeschoolers or Thinkwell folks or anyone else taking AP bio online.  

 

How's the quality of the coursework?  Are the students feeling prepared for the exam?  How is the work load?

My daughter took AP Biology from Terri Kanner of PA Homeschoolers last year, not this year.  It was a very good course.  Meaningful assignments.

Can you give an estimate of how much time your dd spent on it? Did she feel that it prepared her well for the AP test?

Gosh, it's hard to remember how much time she spent - I'd say six to eight hours a week.  She felt that she was well prepared for the AP test. (She got a 5.  The teacher let us know that nobody in the class got less than a 3.)

like - total?  For the whole class - 6/8 hours per week for 9 months or so?  That seems pretty awesome to get a 5 in a lab science AP course.  Way to go DD!  I wonder if that's typical - I would have assumed rather more.

 

That gives me hope that maybe it won't be too ridiculous for DS when he gets there.  He's doing a first-pass through Bio (M&L) and I'd guess he's spending 2/3rds of that per week.

Correction: My daughter says it was more like 8 - 10 hours per week.
