Seasider Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 I understand there are dubious reports about their benefits. I am wondering if there's anything to indicate they're harmful? I just think they're pretty. I'm redoing a bedroom and was thinking about including one. Quote
happi duck Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 I have one. I've not heard anything about them being harmful. They are beautiful! Fyi...One humid summer I discovered that I need to use it frequently to keep it dry. The humidity was starting to dissolve it and I ended up up with salt crystals on the shelf where it sits. 1 Quote
Seasider Posted March 9, 2016 Author Posted March 9, 2016 That's my concern, the residue on furniture. I've read that you should have a dish or something underneath it. I doubt they do a lot but I think they are pretty and relaxing to look at. I bet I could put one of those candle mirrors beneath it. Quote

Does it cast enough light for silent bedtime reading? Quote
gardenmom5 Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 I don't know much about them - my shiatsu therapist has them in each of the rooms. Quote

VaKim Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 (edited) Does it cast enough light for silent bedtime reading? I had one from Walmart and it did. It had a dimmer switch. I sold it in a yard sale because I just didn't care for the looks of it (DH bought it). The red/pink color actually makes it great for night time reading, as that kind of light doesn't interfere with you getting to sleep, like blue light does. Edited March 10, 2016 by VaKim 1 Quote
Indian summer Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 I've heard they have toxic heavy metals in them. I forget how this is harmful if you aren't licking the thing. ;) but maybe they off-gas or something. I know a naturopath that warns against them. Quote
