momee Posted December 23, 2015 Share Posted December 23, 2015 So our Target Debit Card was used for fraudulent activity a couple of years ago. We were refunded the money taken from our account and our bank was excellent about the whole situation. I really! would like to apply again because Target is about an hour from us and their card promises free shipping. I'll save gas money, eating out money (we always eat out on a big trip to town like that) and get the benefit of sticking to the "list" type shopping. Arcadia Posted December 23, 2015 Share Posted December 23, 2015 I am surrounded by Target stores so I rarely use the free shipping unless the item is online only or sold out in stores. We have never seen fraudulent activity on our Target mastercard (they change from Visa) but Target did change our cards during the big hack incident as a precaution. Our local safeway is cheaper than Target most times but the 5% discount is worth it if the items we need are cheapest at Target for example prepaid phone cards and apple devices. I just posted a few weeks ago in another thread that debit/credit card fraud has become so common place that it's become a very "ho hum" thing for us. No fun to deal with, but no big deal. TX Native Posted December 23, 2015 Share Posted December 23, 2015 Sometime in the past year or two, we got sent new debit cards because we used our debit card at a Home Depot during a time someone hacked into Home Depot's CC system. I don't think this is so much a Target issue, as a credit/debit issue. Using these things exposed us to the possibility of fraud. If we want the convenience (and 5% discount) we need to be vigilant.
