Her formal names were Matoaka (or Matoika)following that, I see there are several places in Virginia named in this way: Matoaca High School Matoaka West Virginia Lake Matoaka, part of the Campus *snip*I've clicked 'em all, but none of them have anything there for pronouncing it :tongue_smilie: Is it "Ma-TOKE-ah?" laylamcb Posted September 14, 2008 Share Posted September 14, 2008 I went to college in Williamsburg; Lake Matoaka is on campus. We students who weren't from there tended to pronounce it Ma-TOW-kuh.
