Hyacinth
"This route includes a moderately challenging Class II rapid," how scared should I be? We've all been lake kayaking, but this "rapid" thing will be a first for me. All I can think about is that disturbing movie with Kevin Bacon and Meryl Streep. gardenmom5
I have a friend who runs rivers all. the. time. (when he disappears for a weekend - we know he's on a river somewhere) and is certified for class V (the highest considered navigable.) class 2 is a 'higher waves' - but still beginner - rapid. here's a list of the classifications. http://www.narr.com/rafting-trips/scale-of-difficulty iow: plan on getting wet, and some excitement, but should be easy.
Cottonwood
Class 2 are great for a beginner. Is a guide taking you down? If so, enjoy the ride! I've done up to class IV but that's as far as I care to go. Lol
Hyacinth
No guide. We'll be on our own. Dh and my two boys have no fear of this. (And if I let them see the options on the website, they will all quickly start lobbying for the higher rapids.) I've been watching videos on the site, too. I think I'll be okay. I hope. Joyofsixreboot
My 16 yo is just home from a trip including class 5. She says 2 is just fast water. Not scary.
Momling
For me -- Class 2 is fun. Class 3 is fun and challenging. Class 4 is challenging and scary. I won't go on anything more than that unless it's with a guide in an oar boat. Are you taking inflatable kayaks or hard shell?
creekland
We got our start on a Class 3 and it was a blast. Class 2 ought to be fine - more fun than basic kayaking, but not really dangerous at all.
