raristy
My son (who will be in 8th grade) is interested in learning how to program this summer. Any recommendations for online classes or specific MOOCS your students have benefited and enjoyed? I'm thinking one with deadlines or targets and a tangible outcome (such as a game or website he's programmed) would be desirable. Please let me know. Thanks a lot!!! The Girls' Mom
http://fundafunda.com/comp_courses Her beginning scratch program is just $9.95. One of my girls will be taking a class through her this fall, and they've both taken a non-programming class with her in person.
mumto2
Codeacademyhttp://www.codecademy.com/wasgreat. There have been some recent changes apparently so not familiar with the current format. It is free.
Sebastian (a lady)
Amplify AP Computer Science MOOC. I think that all of the lessons and assignments from the last year will be open for a while. The preliminary activities page lists a lot of activities for learning and using Scratch. https://course-mooc.amplify.com/unit?unit=1&lesson=244 It looks like the lessons work the student toward writing a simple video game.
