JenneinCA
Spring break is almost here and we are going to the other coast to visit cousins. We will be flying from San Francisco to Boston. I have been drinking this protein powder and my diet coach suggests that taking the powder on the trip would be a good thing. My question is, can I take the powder along in ziploc bags? The original container is huge and I don't want to transport it. The powder looks like hot chocolate mix.
Barb_
I can't see why not. Worst case scenario they confiscate it.
JenneinCA
Thank you. The stuff is kind of expensive so I would rather not have it go missing but I don't want to transport the original bottle either.
Arcadia
Should be ok " Q: What should passengers do if they are carrying powders? A: Nothing different. Just be aware that some powders may require further screening. The majority of most commonly carried powders such as baby formula and makeup are unlikely to require any additional screening. Q: Will my powdered baby formula need to be inspected? A: Probably not. During the pilot phase, we found that powdered baby formula did not cause any problems, but there is always the chance that it could happen." http://blog.tsa.gov/2009/09/new-procedures-for-traveling-with.html?m=1
JenneinCA
Arcadia - thank you! That article was very helpful. I can take my protein powder with me. Woohoo!
ElizabethB
I take buffered vitamin C powder with my food to help with food allergies. Airport security once sampled a teaspoonful of my powder and did some kind of testing with it, the other times it has gone through fine. It took 5 or 10 minutes.
