Can anyone compare AoPS to eIMACS?

I think I mean Elements of Mathematics.  Is that a more gradual introduction than the logic course?

I am not sure if you can start in the middle of the sequence of courses.

The logic course is not like algebra, geometry etc. It focuses on propositional logic. See the course outline here: http://www.eimacs.com/parent_aml_overview.htm

They are expensive and so far kiddo has only done the first of the three.

I think he would need to start at the beginning.

Aren't the Elements of Mathematics courses about $60 a piece?  How long does it take to complete a course?

Oh I was referring to the logic courses as expensive, not the foundations. I think it takes a few months (three or so?) to complete each foundation course. Hope someone else will chime in. I have no experience with foundation.

People have reported 3-4 months for kids, but I'd expect someone who's already in alg 2 to go through much quicker and I don't believe they let you start in a more advanced book. The early chapters are pretty foundational. They were aimed more at PG middle schoolers for the start and would take them pretty much through preparation for calculus.

OP: I can't compare the two, but I can give you a little bit of information on EMF, at least the pacing. My daughter is 12 and, while a bit accelerated (algebra this year), she is most definitely not profoundly gifted. She has been doing EMF as her warm-up, "fun" math (Hey, it's on the computer. That must make it fun.) since September. We took almost a month off at Christmas and she is finishing up the Mappings course now. FWIW, it's seems to be more of a parallel track to math than a more in-depth approach (AoPS). For an extra challenge, it fits the bill for us. (And you can take my opinion with a HUGE grain of salt. I seriously have no clue what the kiddo is doing on there; I look at the screen and: :scared: )

My DS 12 started doing EMF over summer and is currently on his third course (sets). He has enjoyed the course, likes the games (string game for instance) and has been able to understand the concepts in a different way that other courses. Our challenge is that he does AOPS classes also ( currently finishing Algebra 1) and likes that too so that presents an issue from time management. Also the sequence of EMF and AOPS does not exactly mach which presents a problem. For now, we have slowed down EMF but we intend to pick up over summer again specially with the new Algebra offering.
