Indian summer
Not a lefty, but two of my dks are. Looking for something that dries quickly so it doesn't smear as the hand hits it.
Sugarfoot
I'm a lefty and so are 2 of my kids. I hold my pen so that my hand doesn't drag across my writing. The nib/tip is always a little bit above where my pinkie hits the paper, if that makes sense. My lefty children do the same thing. If your kids have a "hook" when they write, that's a whole different thing. :001_smile: I can imagine that'd be difficult. FWIW, we've all been loving the Pilot Frixion pens around here. They dry quickly, and they're erasable! :hurray: So great for the perfectionists among us. And they come in highlighters, too!
kitten18
My favorite pen is the Pilot G-2 07. How fast it dries depends a lot on the paper. In don't have any trouble with regular notebook or printer paper but if the paper is at all slick then it doesn't dry very fast.
zoobie
DH is a lefty and picky about his pens. He loves the Pentel Energels. I've gotten the retractable version and refills on amazon for much less than in stores.
Kebo
You could try these -- they're made for lefties: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B008S846FG/ref=ox_sc_act_title_7?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A34KE65B954LKB
JudoMom
Pentel Energel. My lefties love them and they never smear (it's the only thing we've found that don't smear). I think they dry as close to instantly as possible. No need to hold their hands funny, thanks to these pens:http://smile.amazon.com/Pentel-EnerGel-Millimeter-Assorted-BL77BP6M/dp/B0012G9VNS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1413390266&sr=8-1&keywords=pentel+energel
Kathryn
I don't drag my hand through what I wrote, so pens don't make a difference to me as a lefty, only in how smoothly they glide.
Jane Elliot
I'm a lefty, I drag my hand, and I'm picky as all get out. This is my favorite pen. It smears very slightly, much less than anything else I've found. I use it to underline in books while studying too, and it does NOT leak through to the other side. I love that! http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002M7Z338/ref=sr_ph?ie=UTF8&qid=1413391584&sr=1&keywords=sharpie+fine+point+pen
thessa516
Without a doubt, the Uniball Jetstream. I came across this article at the beginning of the year while searching for a new pen. Now it's the only pen I use and the kids know to keep away from it... lol!
Word Nerd
I love Pilot G2 pens--especially the purple ones.
Plateau Mama
I love Pilot G2 pens--especially the purple ones. I like these and the Zebra. http://t.staples.com/product_563226 I will say the I don't really have lots of smuggling problems anymore. Nothing like when I was a kid. I just find some pens write more smoothly than others. My mom (right handed) swears by a brand of pens and I cannot, for the life of me, get them to write. I will be spending some time in the pen aisle at walmart today looking at the other recommendations.

My lefty just doesn't like to write in ink because he is a perfectionist and he can't erase.
