Shelf stable snacks for conference?

My DD9 (and I) will be going to a five day herpetology conference next week. We're staying in the conference center hotel and won't have a car, so we'll be limited to what is fairly close to the conference center. I'll bring a small cooler and should be able to get ice, but I don't want to count on constant refrigeration. We aren't particularly limited on luggage, but should plan on bringing things with us since I kind of doubt there's a grocery store near the conference center.

What kinds of things do you normally snack on?

Does the hotel have a free morning breakfast?  We always ask before we do this, and have never once been turned down...ask if it's ok to take a snack from the breakfast bar for later in the day.  Fruit, a bowl of cereal and milk, a yogurt, muffin, bagel and peanut butter...those are all good snacks for later in the day.

Oh! Missed the part about flying and no grocery store! Never mind about eggs etc. ;) if google the area , just in case, or call the hotel. Even a small gas station store store can carry some refrigerated items like cheese etc.

Hotel ice is a given I would think. Cheese, hummus and baby carrots, nut butter, whole wheat bread, even hard boiled eggs, tuna pouches, good protein bars (cliffs aren't too horrible. They have have sugar, but with a decent amount of protein. Ihate to bring too many snacks of simple carbs as i need to keep my wits and blood sugars level at conferences. Oh, and as I an avo freak, avocados . Just cut it half and dig in with a spoon .
