Conceptual History??

Recommended Posts

Is there an American history program [apprx 8th grade] that focuses on history from a conceptual standpoint?  From that I mean less focus on names and dates and memorization and more on the story line?  Understanding the general timeline and sequence of events is more important to me than specific details.

You might want to look at A History of US by Joy Hakim.  The concise edition from K12 is excellent and much better than the regular edition (in fact, I don't recommend the regular edition).  It is targeted at middle school.
