mom2vikha
Ok ladies! I ordered BA 4 today. But do I have to be a mathy mom to do it? I am not mathy at all but my dd is. She gets frustrated soon though. I am nervous now to let go off MM and get on the BA train. Any advice?
sweetpea3829
Being "mathy" certainly helps, but Beast does a really good job of explaining the concepts so I think a non-mathy parent would be fine. Plus, Beast Workbooks have hints and explained answers in the back.
Farrar
The answers are extremely detailed. You'll do fine. :D
Targhee
A lot of the time I don't even have to be involved ;-) I am, of course, but the books are well written and designed so that a student can do much of it on their own.
lexi
Totally not Mathy here! We are doing ok in 3. I sometimes have to read the answers multiple times, but I'm getting it.
Farrar
It definitely could not be an independent endeavor here. But I enjoy elementary math and usually get it... but I do have to look at the solutions oftentimes to guide ds through his thinking about a problem. But the way they're written means you never look at it and go "12? Why is it 12?" It's like a huge paragraph with the step outlined in narrative form and with math. It's great. But the final answers are also bolded so if you're sure you and your child get it, then you can easily just check answers without being bogged down as well. SnegurochkaL
Hi, Do not worry. You will be just fine. On a contrary we are too mathy here. Sometimes I ask my kids to work an alternative solution to the problems just for a challenge. Sometimes they do, other time they come back empty handed. It is a good way for them to exercise heir abilities to think differently.
