Dianne-TX
We are pursuing a property that has a pond on it, but it has a green scum issue. They currently have two aerators going in it, but that is all. We have no experience with this and would like to know how much we would be looking at to resolve this problem. Also, who do you call for this problem? Do pond management/cleaning companies exist for personal property? It is probably 1/3 of an acre in size. Thanks.
Lara in Colo
your county should have someone who can give advice about such things-- I know we have a county extension agent that gives advice regarding all sorts of things from pruning trees to soil testing
Katy
The cost will depend on the size of the pond. Basically you do two things- you put in a chemical that stops algae from growing and you put a filter on one of the aerator pumps. If the pond is overstocked you might also need to remove some of the fish.

Unicorn.
Borrow a canoe. Go out on pond, and pull it out w/ your hands. I promise you your hands will never be so clean and soft after cleaning pond scum! Throw pond scum on compost pile.
