JustEm
Dh went to a dental school to get a tooth extracted. Because it was a school the price was reduced to 46 dollars for an x-ray,appointment and extraction. Well because of the way the tooth broke they referred him to an oral surgeon which probably means paying for a consult, another x ray at full price, and a surgical extraction. Wish I had just saved his time and 46 dollars. I wonder if I can just punch the tooth out for free :)
Tap
Hopefully they can send the report and xray so all the doc will need to do is make the incision, remove tooth, and stitch.
Lara in Colo
I had one extracted yesterday at a regular dentist-- it was badly infected and she could not get it to fully numb. I had it cut in half and pulled and at least 1/2 the nerves were still not numb. I didn't come unglued, but I cried afterwards when I got to DH's work (for a hug). They should have given you antibiotics and sent you home until the infection was gone before they did the extraction. A good dose of clindamycin would have had you feeling much better in 48 hours. THEN they could have numbed you properly.
gaillardia
Lara, I hope you're feeling better! I used ...oh I forget the name of it! It is used in emergencies, it is homeopathic and it soothed me down when I had a root canal procedure. Anyway, I think my apprehension about dental procedures is getting weird. I used to not care really, if something needed to be done then I had it done. Now I am a big baby.

That sounds like an awful experience. I Had something similar when I was a teen. Normal dentist sent me to a specialist to get a root canal. Specialist didn't believe me when I said I needed double the dose of Novocaine in order for my tooth to be entirely numb (something my normal dentist knew without me ever reminding her.) The second he starts drilling I scream in pain. His response, "I can't believe its as bad as you are reacting if your reaction is in fact real. No matter we're almost done." 5 more minutes of painful drilling is not almost done in my mind. Hope you heal quickly

I had been on antibiotics for the entire week before-- so she was responsible, but I think the infection was worse than 7 days of antibiotics could overcome. I think it is not doing very well, I will hang for today and see how it is tomorrow.
