heritagelearningacademy
Just curious. We do diagramming with our grammar (8th grader) and I was curious how intense we need to remain with it. It has been SOOOOOO long since I've taken the SAT that I wonder if it shows up on the SAT. TIA.
Pawz4me
I don't think so. I barely introduced diagramming to oldest DS, so he would've been lost if it had been on the SAT. And he never mentioned it.
Janice in NJ
Good Morning, You should print out and work through a sample test yourself. It's free, and it will help you immensely as you move forward planning/teaching high school with your kids. (I heartily recommend that all parents of 8th graders try the test; it is worth your time.) Free SAT Practice Test - Prepare for the SAT http://sat.collegeboard.org/practice/sat-practice-test Peace, Janice Enjoy your little people Enjoy your journey P.S. No diagramming. In The Great White North
No, it's not on the SAT. Neither are straight grammar questions (ie. What is the subject of this sentence?) There are questions about which sentence is correct, which "requires" knowledge of grammar.
regentrude
There is no sentence diagramming on the SAT. there are no questions about grammatical terms or rules. There are two types of questions that require grammar knowledge (but most of these questions can be solved even by students who did not have formal grammar but a great instinctive feel for language): 1. Choosing which of several sentences is the correct one 2. Choosing whether one sentence contains an error, and which part of the sentence conatins the error
