My oldest DD will be in 9th grade next year and we will be in modern times in our family's history rotation. I really wish SWB would have her "History of the Modern World" finished, but I don't think it will be. We have also loved using "Mystery of History" (and have adapted it for high school for DS) but there's also no release date on her modern history either. Any good recommendations?? I never found a curriculum that I liked and have been using library books and this against a timeline. Look at both US and World History sections. dirty ethel rackham Posted October 18, 2013 Share Posted October 18, 2013 For my oldest's 9th grade, we used a Great Courses series "Interpreting the 20th Century: The Struggle For Democracy" as a spine along with Blainey's A Short History of the 20th Century. We didn't watch every single class, but most of them. We supplemented with films and books from the library and original source documents. I did this with 2 other families where we met a couple of times a month, watched a couple of the videos, had discussion, and listened to them present papers on the various topics. Thanks, Karen We have been watching documentaries or the speeches on youtube. Occasionally reading something online as prep. We have actually found some great stuff through youtube!
